Gregorio is professor with tenure of the Department of Processes and Systems at Simon Bolivar University (USB) in Caracas, Venezuela. He graduated as electrical engineer and magister in systems engineering from the same University. In the past he has been delegate of the Space Generation Advisory Council at the United Nations Commitee for the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space and veteran "flight mechanic" of the Mars Desert Research Station in Utah, with the crews 28, 33 and 34 (read Sami Rozenbaum's blog in Spanish here). He has received various awards from Caltech, the School of Engineers of Venezuela, and the World Future Society Venezuela. At this time, Gregorio is a doctoral student with the Schools of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Aerospace Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology, with the the first International Fulbright Science and Technology Scholarship awarded to a Venezuelan by the U.S. Department of State. His advisor is Dr. Ayanna M. Howard, director of the Human-Automation Systems Laboratory (HumAnS Lab). In his research, he aims to develop an agent-based methodology that facilitates the integration and operation of engineered systems, making use of concepts in cognitive engineering. One of his long-term objectives is the development of biospheric systems that involve recirculating aquaculture, for sustainable development on Earth and for spaceflight. Concurrently, he aims to perform experiments in space someday, maybe in a rotation of the International Space Station. He is member of the IEEE Computational Intelligence; Robotics and Automation; and Systems, Man, and Cybernetics societies, as well as of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and serves as referee for the journal IEEE Transactions on Fuzzy Systems and for the Journal of the Faculty of Engineering at the Central University of Venezuela. Curriculum Vitae |
